Super Mario Galaxy: Retro Remix is an exciting, in-progress hack of Super Mario Galaxy 2, reimagining classic 2D & 3D Mario levels within the 3D world of Super Mario Galaxy -- with some unique twists and surprises along the way! Currently levels from popular games such as Super Mario Bros., Super Mario World, Super Mario 3D Land and MORE are here!

Super Mario Galaxy: Retro Remix contains reimagined levels, new enemies, powerups, and more! Our goal is to release a demo of the hack in late 2025, with a release in 2026!

New Powerups & Items

The classic Mushroom, first introduced in Super Mario Bros., is back! Coins no longer heal Mario--now, only Mushrooms restore his health. So, be extra careful! All power-ups (except for the Star) now last forever! But watch out--you'll lose them if you take damage! Who knows? If you jump around enough, you might just find a hidden block...

New Enemies

The Boo Circle from the 2D Mario series makes its return. Oh my...are they CIRCLING me? And laughing at me?

Poltergeist items from New Super Mario Bros. Wii are back, too! Oh man, now even the item blocks can't be trusted...

...and of course, there are more yet to be revealed!

New Bosses

Boom Boom and Pom Pom from later 3D Mario titles are also here...with a twist! Details to be announced...

And of course, more memorable foes are back.

I have always wanted to make a hack for Super Mario Galaxy with my 13 years of experience with the game. This hack has finally gotten me into learning how to properly model in Blender and animate. With my custom code experience, I hope to push the boundaries of what is achievable with this incredible game. Of course, there are always improvements. The screenshots above are likely to be changed around as the hack progresses and I get more experienced with level design & graphics.
